BASIC INFORMATION

Viganj is a small tourist town in the municipality of Orebić, located on the western side of the Pelješac peninsula. The town can be reached by highway to Vrgorac, then by road all the way to Viganj, or by boat, since Viganj is directly connected to Korčula. The nearest airport is in Dubrovnik.

HISTORY, CULTURE AND ATTRACTIONS

The area of Viganj was already inhabited in ancient times, and since the 13th century the town has been part of the Dubrovnik Republic. Viganj certainly has historical values and sights worth visiting, for example: the hill of St. Elijah, the church of St. John, the viewpoint above Viganj and the settlement of Nakovana, one of the oldest towns on Pelješac.

BEACHES

Along Viganj there are numerous pebble beaches, extremely popular because the mistral wind has done wonders here - creating a perfect destination for surfers (windsurfing and kitesurfing). Viganj is also known as the sunniest place in Croatia.

OTHER CONTENT

Viganj, as a real little tourist paradise, besides beautiful pebble beaches (which offer various types of water sports) and historical sites, also has numerous catering establishments that complete the atmosphere. There are cafes, beach bars for daytime relaxation and drinking coffee, the gastronomic offer is rich, we will mention: restaurant Čiringito, tavern Forte. For tourists looking for nightlife, the island of Korčula is only a few minutes away by boat and Orebić is only 8 km away.

SPORT

Viganj is popular for various types of water sports (windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing, diving), you can also enjoy hiking in the benefits of Mount St. Ilija, there are also cycling trails and a famous promenade.

WHAT TO DO AND EXCURSION / SIGHTSEEING OPPORTUNITIES

In addition to sightseeing Viganj itself, it is recommended to take the opportunity to visit the surrounding towns/islands. There are organized excursions from Orebić, to name a few: Dubrovnik, the island of Mljet, Međugorje and Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina), a tour of the entire Pelješac peninsula, etc.

You can stay in one of the hotels, apartments, villas, we will mention some of the more famous ones: Taras's Lodge hotel and Villa Vrgorac (both accommodations are about 3 km away from Viganj). In Viganj there is the Maestral Camping and Ponta campsite.
