BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION

Mošćenička Draga is a small tourist town and municipality stretching from Medveja to Zagorje (Stepča) in an area of 16 kilometers and located below the Učka Nature Park. It is located in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and is in the immediate vicinity of the Istrian region. Traveling by road from the east or south and arriving in Rijeka, you can quickly reach Mošćenička Draga. Mošćenička Draga is about 20 kilometers from Rijeka, and 14 kilometers from Opatija. The settlement was founded at the beginning of the 19th century, while the first significant progress occurred at the beginning of the 20th century when a large number of Italian and Austrian families moved to Mošćenička Draga, numerous villas were built, a seaport was built, and traffic connections with Opatija and Rijeka were improved. From Among the cultural sights there is the church of St. Peter, which preserves a beautiful monument of Glagolitic culture – a stone for blessed water with a Glagolitic inscription from 1573. The olive mill, the so-called "Mošćenički toš", is over 300 years old and is one of the few that are so well preserved.
