GENERAL INFORMATION AND LOCATION
Vela Luka is a Mediterranean town located on the western part of the island of Korčula, with a population of 4,500, making it the second largest town on the Adriatic islands. You can reach Vela Luka by ferry or catamaran from Split, by bus (the town is connected to the rest of Croatia by daily lines), and the nearest airports are in Split and Dubrovnik.
CULTURE, HISTORY
The oldest remains found in the nearby Vela Spilja are approximately 20 thousand years old, so the history of this place goes back to the distant past. Vela Luka experienced its heyday in the late 18th century. The place is known for its exceptionally talented artists and its numerous cultural heritage. The parish church of St. Joseph, the museum of the cultural center and Vila Spila (a cave above the city) are just some of the many sights you can see in this town.
BEACHES
Vranac is a concrete city beach located near the center, but tourists are most attracted to the islets of Proizd and Ošjak, which are enchanting with their beauty and are considered ideal places for rest, sunbathing and relaxation. Bili Baci are the three most beautiful beaches located on the northern side of the aforementioned islet of Proizd.
OTHER CONTENT
During the summer months, Vela Luka offers a rich entertainment program: performances by the "Kupmanija" folklore society, klapa performances, artist exhibitions, concerts, etc. In Vela Luka there is also the night club Casablanca, and there are also a large number of coffee bars. The gastronomic offer is at an enviable level, there is a whole series of quality restaurants and taverns where, in addition to excellent food, you can also try high-quality local wines, we will mention: the Bata tavern, the Lucica tavern and the Pod Bore restaurant.
SPORT
There are many ways to recreate, besides there is a lot to explore and in addition to water activities, you can also take advantage of the hiking or biking trails that are available to you.
SIGHTSEEING, EXCURSIONS
There are organized boat trips that include tours of the islets and their beaches with stops for swimming, and there are also organized trips to nearby places: Dubrovnik, Hvar, Korčula, Split.

There are hotels, apartments and other private accommodations as well as the Mandel camp, we will mention: Hotel Korkyra and apartments Jobst and Vranac. There is also a ferry port and a marina in Vela Luka.
