BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION
Poreč is a city, port and tourist center located on the western coast of Istria. It is very well connected by road to the rest of Istria, and is also accessible via traffic routes from Rijeka and Zagreb in Croatia, as well as Italy and Slovenia. The nearest airport is Pula, about fifty kilometers away, and the nearest railway line is near the town of Pazin. Poreč has its own port authority and handles maritime traffic, the lines of which are mainly on routes from Italy (Venice) along the port towns of the Istrian coast.
CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS
Since the city of Poreč was founded in the 1st century BC during the Roman era, its city center is full of historical sights. The city gates and ramparts, medieval towers, Gothic and Baroque palaces, the Canons' Hall and the Vergottini Palace are some of the examples of beautiful Poreč architecture. Of particular note is the Euphrasian Basilica from the 6th century, adorned with beautiful mosaics and included on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1997. The Poreč Regional Museum, with its collection of over 15,000 objects, is certainly worth a visit.
BEACHES
The beaches of Poreč are best known for their clean sea and most of them have the Blue Flag, which is a guarantee for the quality and cleanliness of the water and the environment. All beaches have a top-notch offer of facilities. The most famous beaches for vacation are the City Beach of Poreč and the beaches of Brulo, Borik, Oliva, Bellevue, Crnika and Lotuses.
OTHER CONTENT
While walking through the center of Poreč along the city's waterfront, you can come across a number of beautifully decorated cafes and bars. For nightlife, the most famous club is Byblos, where world-famous DJs can be guests during the summer, and some of the other nightclubs are Coco Club, Saint & Sinner, Villa Club Poreč and Tequilla Beach Bar. For games of chance there is also a wide selection of casinos in Poreč. Istrian delicacies can be enjoyed in the restaurants Sv. Nikola, Divino, Il Tricolore and many other smaller restaurants and taverns. You can also visit some wine shops and wine roads.
SPORT
Poreč, in addition to many outdoor playgrounds, has four sports centers that offer a wide range of sports activities. Similar centers also offer many diving centers, water sports, other sports, and golf courses. Laguna Poreč is a sports center and resort that deserves special mention. Cyclists are offered almost 3500 km of cycling paths along beautiful landscapes along the Poreč area.
WHAT TO DO – EXCURSION OPPORTUNITIES
Due to its great location along the coast, Poreč offers various boat trip arrangements, visits to traditional crafts and gastronomic tours, and sightseeing of the city's cultural sites. Nearby attractions for nature sightseeing include the Baredine Cave, the observatory in nearby Višnjan, Dinopark Funtana, and the unmissable Brijuni National Park.

Marinas near the city center are Zelena Laguna and the Poreč marina, and 8 kilometers from the city center is the Červar Porat marina.
