BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION
Vrsar is a town, port and tourist center located on the western coast of Istria. It is located about ten kilometers from Poreč and is accessible by road from the north from Ljubljana, from the east via the Rijeka-Zagreb highway, and from the south from Pula. Nearest railway stations are in Poreč and Pula. The nearest airport is also in Pula, while Rijeka Airport and Trieste are a little further away. The port of Vrsar is part of the Port Authority of Poreč and has a marina with around 250 berths. The nearby port of Poreč can be reached by from the seaports of Rijeka, Trieste and Pula.
CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS
The area around Vrsar has been inhabited since prehistoric times. After the arrival of the Histri and later Roman rule, Vrsar was ruled by the Counts of Pazin, the Venetians and the Austrians over the centuries. Among the cultural attractions, the Roman magazine and necropolis should be highlighted, which confirm that Vrsar was once an important trading center. , and along the coast stretches an archaeological zone where the remains of Roman country villas (villa rustica) have been found. The ornament of the lion of St. Mark, the symbol of the Venetian Republic, adorns the beautiful editions of the Old Romanesque Gate and the Main City Gate, which are part of the old Vrsar walls. A combination of various cultural styles is visible at the Summer Residence of the Bishops of Poreč, a beautiful palace built from the 14th to the 18th centuries.
BEACHES
The Vrsar coast is full of hidden coves, small islands and secluded beaches to explore. The beaches are rocky, pebbly and sandy, and the most famous beaches for tourists are Belvedere, Gradska plaža, Petalon, Koversada, AC Valkanela and AC Puntica.

Gastronomic offerings with authentic Istrian specialties are offered by the restaurants Ideal, Marina, Delfin, Histria, Oscar, Rimini and Riva. Enjoying the terraces along the beautiful city walls is offered by Caffe L'Angelique, Buffet Trevisol and the Aurora café. For great nightlife by the beach, Casanova Bar and Dioniz Bar. Among the events not to be missed is Casanova Fest, a festival of love and eroticism dedicated to Giacomo Casanova, the world-famous lover who visited Vrsar on two occasions. During the summer season, various fishing festivals are very common, with an emphasis on enjoying traditional Istrian dishes and drinks.
SPORT
Vrsar is full of eco-bike trails. The most famous one runs along the nearby Lim Bay through the Kontija forest and stretches for another 15 kilometers through nature. Tennis enthusiasts can rent courts located at the Koversadi campsite. Those who want to explore the underwater world off the coast of Vrsar have at their disposal diving centers Starfish and Triton Diving. The Montraker sports center offers a wide range of activities in various sports.
WHAT TO DO – EXCURSION POSSIBILITY
The 3-kilometer Funtana-Vrsar hiking trail offers enjoyment in the beautiful beauty of Vrsar's nature. At the end of the trail, there is a beautiful view of the city. Among the natural beauties, the Lim Canal should be mentioned, which is only 3 kilometers from Vrsar and offers unforgettable experiences in nature. The ideal destination for a family outing is the Vrsar Aeropark. In addition to taking a panoramic flight over Istria, you can also visit an exhibition of old airplanes and even enter the cockpit and take a look around.
ACCOMMODATION
The Vista and Pineta hotels are located right next to the sea and offer a great location for accommodation. Tourist resorts worth visiting are Belvedere, Naturist Park Koversada (also a campsite) and Riva. Accommodation in campsites with a wide range of facilities is available at Orsera Camping Resort and campsites Porto Sole and Tina. Marinas Funtana and Vrsar are known as some of the most beautiful in Croatia and attract an increasing number of foreign tourists every year.
