BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION

Cavtat is a small town located 19 kilometers southeast of Dubrovnik, on the Rat Peninsula, and is the seat of the Konavle Municipality. Cavtat is often called the pearl of the far south of Croatia, with its natural beauty, exceptional architecture and rich history it attracts attention and is always at the top when it comes to top destinations on the Adriatic. The transport connections are excellent, considering that only 5 km east of the city is the Čilipi airport, which connects Dubrovnik with the whole world, while the Adriatic highway is also located in the immediate vicinity.

CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS

The city that developed in Roman times on the peninsula in the center of today's Cavtat was called Epidaurum, and the name Cavtat is actually a Croatized form of Civitas vetus. In the historic core of Cavtat is located the museum of the birthplace of Vlaho Bukovac, who was one of the most important founders of Croatian modern painting, we also have the mausoleum of the Račić family, the art gallery of the Church of St. Nicholas and numerous other cultural heritage sites.

BEACHES

The municipality of Konavle and Cavtat itself are extremely developed and visited by tourists. The crystal clear sea and beautifully arranged beaches are, among other things, the reason why this place is so popular. For example, the city's concrete beach at Hotel Croatia offers a variety of facilities, while the Poluotok Rat beach is rich in small coves, has a pebble and concrete part, both of which have the Blue Flag, which is a recognition for exceptionally clean and arranged beaches.

OTHER CONTENT

Nightlife in Cavtat is more based on concerts and quieter romantic evenings, given that its offer is limited to a number of cafes and restaurants. Numerous famous restaurants and taverns in the town have enviable gastronomic offers based on Dalmatian and Mediterranean cuisine, we will mention the restaurant Ivan and the tavern Dalmatino and Toranj. The famous Beach bar Little star is a famous bar in the town praised for its ambiance and the beautiful view it offers, the same goes for the cafe bar Amor. For those who still want nightlife, they can head to Dubrovnik, which is only a few kilometers away.

SPORT

In Cavtat, in addition to swimming and diving, you can also visit Kojan Koral, which is located a few kilometers from the city, and offers recreational horse riding and an adrenaline trip ATV-squad safari. There are also pedestrian and bicycle paths in Konavle. Cavtat's seabed is well-known and attractive for diving activities, given that there are, among other things, archaeological sites under the water.

WHAT TO DO AND EXCURSION / SIGHTSEEING OPPORTUNITIES

Finding your way around Cavtat is not a problem, as it is a small town, and there is a tourist information center that can direct you and help you get to your desired destination. Since Cavtat is located between Konavle and Dubrovnik, you can go on one of the many excursion programs offered by Konavle travel agencies, including a tour of the Prevlaka Nature Park, the Dubrovnik city walls, etc. Some excursions also include a tour of neighboring countries, such as Montenegro, which is only half an hour south.

ACCOMMODATION

Cavtat has a wide range of accommodation options, including numerous apartments, private houses and hotels. We will mention Villa Adria, a family-run villa located in the immediate vicinity of the centre and the sea. One of the most famous five-star hotels is certainly Hotel Croatia, which offers a view of the Adriatic Sea on one side and the historic centre of the town on the other. The Kupari campsite, located 9 kilometres from the town, is one of the most famous in Croatia, and 20 kilometres from the town we have the village of Molunat, where we have a few more campsites, including Adriatic, Monika and Marinero. There is also a large port in Cavtat.
