BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION
Milna is a municipality and the largest settlement on the west coast of Brač. It is located in a deep bay that opens onto the Splitska vrata. In front of the Milna bay is the islet of Mrduja, around which the famous Mrduja regatta takes place. The bay is protected and suitable for sailors, so Milna has two marinas with over 300 berths. The municipality consists of 5 settlements: Bobovišća, Bobovišća na Moru, Ložišća, Milna and Podhume. Milna is connected to Split by a catamaran connection, and it is 20 kilometers from the Supetar ferry port. According to the latest census, the municipality has 1,034 inhabitants, who, in addition to agriculture and fishing, are increasingly turning to tourism.
CULTURE; HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS
Valle di mille navi or translated as the Bay of a Thousand Ships has been the name for Milna since the time of the Venetians. Milna developed in the early 17th century. Until the mid-20th century, it was the main port of Brač. It is worth visiting the Parish Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation from the 18th century, the Church of St. Joseph and St. Jerus, and in the Osibova Bay the Church of St. John the Baptist. Milna also has a monastery of the Daughters of God's Love. Visit the Ražanj lighthouse, the Baterija fortress or the Gea Viva campsite. In neighboring Ložišće and Bobovišće you can see numerous historical attractions.
BEACHES
In Milna there are the beaches of Bijaka, Pasikova and Lučice, and in the immediate vicinity there are Osibovo, Bijaka, Maslinovo, Makarac, Salbunara and the bay of Bobovišća. All are pebbly or rocky, and have a pine forest for natural shade.
OTHER CONTENT
From regular general services, massage and beauty salons, car rentals, you also have a rich gastronomic offer. Restaurants such as Amfora, Nautika, Palma, Navigare, Fortuna, Barba Luka, Illyirian offer fresh specialties, as do the tavern Dupini, pizzeria Gajeta and bistro Galicija. The night scene is complemented by cafes and various events organized during the season, such as a fisherman's evening, concerts of a capella groups and entertainers from the local entertainment scene. SPORTS Sailing, bocce, diving, fishing, table tennis, volleyball, basketball, and five-a-side football are sports that fans can enjoy in Milna. Free climbing in Ložišće and on the rocks of Brač is also offered by the local tourist agency.
WHAT TO DO AND EXCURSION OPPORTUNITIES
The agency organizes visits to the Blue and Green Caves, Vis, and the Pakleni Islands. Daily lines with Split offer various possibilities, as does the catamaran line Split-Milna-Hvar-Mljet-Dubrovnik.
