BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION
Postira is a fishing and tourist village in Split-Dalmatia County, on the northern coast of the island of Brač, 8 kilometers east of Supetar, where the main ferry port and connection to Split are located. The municipality of Postira includes the settlements of Dol and Postira. According to the latest census, it has 1,559 inhabitants. Postira can be reached via Supetar, from where there are regular lines to Split or Brač airport.
CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS
Postira was founded in the 16th century, and the first inhabitants were the people of Doljani and Poljica who moved out of their villages. They were first mentioned in the 14th century. The name of the town comes from the word "Pastura", which means pasture in Latin. Numerous stone houses in the harbor bear witness to the former Brač landowners, among which the castle of the Lazanić family stands out, where the Croatian poet Vladimir Nazor was born. The educational and cultural event Nazor's Days is held in his honor every year. Other sights include the parish church of St. John the Baptist from the 16th century, the archaeological site of Mirje on the hill of Mali Brig where an early Christian monastery complex was found, and Lovrečina, also one of the most beautiful sandy bays, where there is an early Christian church from the 5th/6th century. In the sea itself there are the remains of an ancient pier. The Association for the Promotion of Culture and Art "Kogula" organizes numerous events during the season, but also throughout the year.
BEACHES
In addition to the aforementioned Lovrečina, in the immediate vicinity of Postira there are also the beaches of Bok, Vela Lozna, Mala Lozna, Zastivanje, Porat, Prja and Rat.
OTHER CONTENT
The offer of restaurants and taverns is rich. Some of them are the restaurants Lovrečina and Lipa, the taverns Gustirna, Kaktus, Bracera and Dvor, the pizzerias Galija and Brazza, and in nearby Dol there are Toni and Agroturizam Kaštil Gospodnetić. For those looking for a night out, there are also numerous coffee bars in the town, but also in Supetar, Bol and other larger towns on the island.
SPORT
Sports and active vacation enthusiasts can enjoy cycling, beach volleyball, handball, football, basketball, tennis, bocce, hiking, diving and other water sports. A 21-kilometer hiking trail connects Postira-Vidova Gora-Bol, and numerous cultural sights and natural beauties can be seen on foot.
WHAT TO DO AND EXCURSION OPPORTUNITIES
In addition to the above-mentioned sports activities, day trips to Bol, Split, Hvar, Makarska and Omiš are also organized. The ethno-eco village of Dol is also worth visiting, and during the summer numerous festivals and events are organized, such as the traditional cultural and entertainment event "Postirsko lito". There is also the possibility of renting a boat.

The Lipa Postira, Vrilo, Lovrečina Resort and Plaža hotels offer excellent facilities, and there are also numerous private accommodation options available. There is also a campsite in the immediate vicinity, towards Supetar.
