BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION
Pašman is an island in the Croatian Adriatic, south of Zadar. With an area of 60 km² and 70 km of indented coastline, it is one of the larger Croatian islands. It is connected to the island of Ugljan by a bridge in the Ždrelac passage, and it is separated from the mainland by the Pašman channel, which is only 2 km wide in some places. It is also one of the islands closest to the mainland. It is located in the Zadar archipelago, between the cities of Zadar and Biograd. The island can be reached by ferries from Zadar, on the line Zadar-Preko (island Ugljan) and then on the state road D110 and the bridge in Ždrelac. Another ferry line departs from Biograd and leads to Tkon on Pašman. All places on the island of Pašman are connected by an island road.
DESTINATIONS
Nature lovers and those who want solitude, fans of island products and all of you who are looking for the perfect destination for your summer vacation, come to Pašman. In the middle of the Pašman channel, next to three islets that the islanders call Bisage, stands the mystical Galešnjak, completely unreal, one of only three heart-shaped islands, but the only one that does not change its shape. The settlements of Pašman, Ždrelac, Tkon, Neviđane and Mrljane sprung up on the eastern side of the island, facing the mainland and uninhabited islets frequented by sailors and bottlenose dolphins.
CULTURE, HISTORY AND SIGHTS
Opašman has been inhabited since prehistoric times. Its inhabitants hid from pirate attacks in the 6th century in the Pustograd fortress, today a valuable archaeological site near Tkon. Category zero monument, monastery of St. Kuzma and Damjan, built in the 12th century, is located on the Ćokovac hill above Tkon. The Benedictines keep a rich collection of sacred art in it, while the Franciscans chose the place Kraj to build the monastery of St. Dujma in the 14th century. The island of Pašman is guarded by a faithful guard, the stone statue of St. Michael from the 12th century, from the church of the same name in Neviđane.
