BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION
The Central Dalmatia region includes two counties, Split-Dalmatia and Šibenik-Knin. The coast is rugged and indented, the relief is mountainous, the rivers are deep with steep valleys, and the climate is beautiful Mediterranean. The coast is connected by the Adriatic highway, or state road D8, and in the immediate hinterland is the A1 highway, which connects the whole of Dalmatia with the lowland part of Croatia. Central Dalmatia has two ports, Split and Sibenik, which are connected to nearby islands. There are also lines from Split to Ancona, in Italy. There are also two airports in this area; Resnik-Splitska, which is also the second largest in Croatia, and Bračka, which has a tourist character.
DESTINATIONS
The most famous destinations are Split and Šibenik, then Trogir, Salona and Makarska, and on the islands of Bol on Brač and Hvar, the center of the island of the same name. The city of Split dominates the region, it is the cultural, political and spiritual center of the entire Dalmatia. Split, Trogir and Šibenik are cities with a turbulent past and rich in historical heritage. A walk in these cities takes you back to antiquity and provides a unique experience. In addition to its rich history, this area offers beautiful beaches, untouched nature, attractive accommodation, nightlife and a rich gastronomic scene.
CULTURE, HISTORY AND SIGHTS
Dalmatia is one of the oldest regional terms in Croatia. It was first mentioned in the eighth year before Christ, when it was founded by the Roman emperor Augustus as the name for the area between Promina and Cetina, which was inhabited by the Illyrian tribe of Dalmatians. The area is full of monuments, especially from antiquity, and the most famous is Diocletian's Palace in Split. It is also important to mention the Romanesque core of Trogir and the cathedral of St. Jakov in Šibenik, which, like Diocletian's Palace, are under UNESCO protection, the ancient Salona, chapels and small churches of charming island towns, but also natural beauties such as the national parks of Krka and Kornati, the nature parks of Biokovo and Lake Vrana.
BEACHES
Central Dalmatia has a wide range of beaches, and Zlatni rat in Bol on Brač is unique. Split Bačvice is an unmissable destination if you are staying in Split. Stone and gravel coves on the islands attract lovers of solitude and peace.

Lovers of a more peaceful holiday will enjoy the islands and smaller places along the coast, those who want a night out will go to Split, Trogir, Makarska, Šibenik or Bol.
