BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION

Ston is the main town of the municipality of the same name and is part of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, more precisely located in the southeast of the Pelješac peninsula. Ston can be reached in various ways, it can be by boat, by car to Ploče and then by ferry to the peninsula, or by plane - the nearest airport is Čilipi-Dubrovnik.

CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS

The municipality of Ston was founded in 1992, 5 years later five settlements separated and founded another municipality. Until the beginning of the 19th century, the town of Ston was the economic and cultural center of the then Dubrovnik Republic, during which time it was built in two parts, which is why there are Mali and Veliki Ston today. This town offers breathtaking views, the sights in Ston are famous not only in Croatia but throughout the world. The walls of Ston are the second largest walls in the world, a favorite tourist attraction, and the saltworks in Ston are also famous, the oldest in Europe and possibly in the world.

BEACHES

Prapratno Beach, located in the bay of the same name, is considered one of the most beautiful in these parts. The beach is sandy and equipped with all necessary amenities, and it is about 4 kilometers away from the center of Ston.

The gastronomic offer is diverse, there are specialties of this region available that you can try in top restaurants, we will mention the Bakus tavern. There are also numerous cafes for daily relaxation, drinking coffee or refreshing drinks. During your stay in this town, you can also visit other tourist attractions, of which there are many, for lovers of nightlife it is recommended to visit Dubrovnik, which is less than 60 kilometers away, there is a greater choice, there are numerous cafes, nightclubs, concerts.

There are tennis, basketball and football courts, so besides water recreation you can also enjoy other forms of recreation. There are also cycle paths, for example the attractive and famous Napoleon Road is ideal for walking.

In addition to the fact that in Ston itself you can enjoy sightseeing the listed sights (the world-famous Ston Walls, the oldest European Saltworks), there are also numerous other historical attractions: the Church of St. Michael, the Church of Our Lady of Luzina, Veliki Kaštio, etc. There is a wide range of choices when it comes to sightseeing and excursions, with various combinations of one-day trips organized from the peninsula: the Neretva Delta, Dubrovnik, the island of Korčula, Orebić, etc.
