BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION
The island of Korčula is an island on the Adriatic Sea, the second most populated island in Croatia and one of the most famous island destinations, it belongs to the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. You can get to the island in several ways: by car and continue by ferry to the port of Dominče (2 km from the town of Korčula) or to the port in Vela Luka, you can also get there by bus. The nearest airport is in Dubrovnik.

The island of Korčula is about 46 km long and about 270 km² in area. Korčula is known for its beautiful environment, wonderful beaches and numerous cultural and historical heritages. Lumbarda with the most beautiful beaches, Vela luka with a cave above the town, Brna as a typical Dalmatian village, and the town of Korčula with quality architecture are just some of the destinations on this beautiful island.
CULTURE, HISTORY AND SIGHTS
The island of Korčula has always been an important center of culture, architecture and trade. There are findings in the Vela Spila cave that reveal that Korčula has been inhabited since prehistoric times. The Statute of the island of Korčula is mentioned in the 13th century, in this part of Europe it is one of the oldest written legal documents. Marco Polo's birthplace with a small museum in the town of Korčula, Vela Spila above Vela Luka and the cathedral of St. Marka (known as the most beautiful Renaissance monument in the old town of Korčula) are just some of the many sights that you can see on this fairytale island.
BEACHES
The beaches on Korčula are mostly pebbly, although the most famous are the sandy beaches, mostly in the area of Lumbarda and the town of Korčula. Vela Pržina is the most popular sandy beach located near Lumbarde. On the southern side of the island is the bay Pupnatska Luka with a beautiful and also popular beach, and there are also the famous sandy beaches of Bilin Žal and Tatinja, both in the area of Lumbarda.

The island of Korčula organizes numerous cultural and entertainment programs in the summer months, each place offers a variety of opportunities. There are traditional fishing festivals with music and Dalmatian wine and often last until the early hours of the morning. For lovers of nightlife, there are coffee bars and disco clubs, for example. Barilo" where you can get a detailed insight into life and customs on the island. There are also numerous organized excursions, the most attractive are those by sea to the nearby islands.
