BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION
The name Kvarner usually refers to the area of the Kvarner Gulf, which is located in the north of the Adriatic Sea and stretches from the Istrian coast to the Velebit coast. The islands of Krk, Cres, Lošinj, Rab and Pag are located within the mentioned sea area, and the coastal part of Kvarner stretches from a small part of the eastern Istrian coast all the way down to the area below the town of Senj, including the interior of the entire area. Kvarner is located in an excellent geographical position. It is accessible by road from several directions, while rail traffic takes place in the direction of Ljubljana and Zagreb. The most important airport is Rijeka Airport located on the island of Krk, while ferry lines go directly to Cres, Rab and Lošinj, and there are inter-island lines for the other islands.
DESTINATIONS - PLACES IN THE REGION
The largest city in Kvarner is Rijeka, which is also an important traffic hub. The most important cities in the western part are Opatija and Lovran, while in the eastern part Novi Vinodolski and Senj stand out. The Kvarner Islands are well populated and some island administrative centers that can be highlighted are the cities of Krk, Omišalj, Cres, Rab, Mali Lošinj, Veli Lošinj and Pag. If the wider interior of the coastal area is taken into account, the town of Fužine can be mentioned as a destination. in Gorski kotar and Platak, Učka and Risnjak as mountainous parts.

Kvarner has been a place where various cultures and civilizations have permeated since prehistoric and ancient times. Starting with the ancient Greeks and Romans, the area of Kvarner was influenced by various peoples, and an exceptional cultural heritage was created, which is an important part of the Croatian identity. This area is rich in ancient and medieval monuments, whether it is the remains of former architecture or other historical sources, and there are a number of island and coastal sites that can be visited. Other sights bring the specifics and customs of coastal culture on the one hand and a blend of European cultural influences that can be found in cities like Rijeka or Opatija.
BEACHES (SKI RESORTS AND EXCURSIONS ON THE LAND)
Kvarner beaches, in addition to their beauty, are particularly attractive for their clean sea and preserved environment. Every Kvarner island or place in the coastal area has a number of beaches and coves, but as some of the most beautiful and cleanest beaches we can highlight Rajska plaža on Rab, Lišanj in Novi Vinodolski, Vela Plaža in Baška, Slatina on Cres, etc. The cities of Opatija and Crikvenica have a long tradition of tourism and their offer of beaches is also special because it has been attracting local and foreign tourists for years. The interior of Kvarner makes it possible to visit mountainous areas. Mount Učka is a great picnic spot for visiting nature, while Platak can be a place for skiing and other winter activities. The town of Fužine in Gorski Kotar is adorned with a continental climate and the beautiful Lake Bajer.

Kvarner offers the most content during the summer months, although the tourist season can last throughout the rest of the year, and then various forms of entertainment are available in all Kvarner cities and towns, especially the islands. Enjoying swimming and beaches is the first association of summer, but you can also enjoy cultural events, festivals and gastronomic offers in restaurants offered by almost every place in Kvarner, and such events are an opportunity to get to know the traditions of the region. Nightlife is very lively during the summer months, which is especially true for the islands, which are full of tourists at that time. The offer is getting bigger and the number of summer music festivals is growing every year. Zrće on Pag is one of the most famous places in the world to have fun. The Rijeka Carnival in February is an unmissable event every year, and mountain regions and settlements in Gorski Kotar are places for those who prefer hospitality and entertainment in colder regions and fresh air.

Perhaps the most famous tourist destination on the coast is Opatija, a city of exceptional history and environment with a wonderful Lungomare promenade and many villas and parks. Crikvenica is already a traditional tourist center that offers beautiful beaches in combination with numerous catering and entertainment facilities. In fact, along the entire length of the so-called The Opatija and Crikvenica rivieras are home to a number of beautiful coastal towns worth seeing. The city of Rijeka, as a port city, offers a variety of tourist content, and Novi Vinodolski and Senj also have their trump cards in the beauty of the coastal region. Mount Učka and Platak and Risnjak are destinations in the mountainous regions of the interior of Kvarner, which will attract fans of fresh air and relaxation in nature with their nature and lush vegetation.
